This Kitchen Remodel Before & After features a wonderfully old home located in Salem MA. This Essex style home has a central fireplace with 2 stories. Since originally built in 1730, it has been moved twice, with the Roman numerals still written on the roof rafters.
Frustrated by the kitchen, this homeowner begun project by removing the chimney herself, brick by brick. Have you ever met someone this motivated???
The client wanted to maintain the feel of the older home with her cabinetry choices. A Shaker door, lip overlay, with slab drawer heads was selected, with a Chiffon paint finish. The bin pulls added to the antique look.
With out the brick chimney, the stove wall can function with the necessary countertop space. The existing range was reused for cost savings.
The upper wall cabinets have glass fronts, to help maintain an open feeling with the space.
I recently received this message from my client:
Cannot say Thank You! enough to Dianne for her assistance in bringing our 1730 (we demolished to the outside of house walls) up to a glorious miracle kitchen. Diagrams, layouts, working with us and the contractor, finding the right hardware. Way beyond just selling cabinets, Dianne is the terrific design assistance - thank you!!!
It is very satisfying when, after the last of the plaster dust, and wood shims have been removed, and the damaged bin pull replaced for a client to take the time to share their hapiness with me. Sharon - enjoy your new kitchen!
Let me help you with your design issues and finish selections.
