Here are 3 ways you can integrate smart home features into your kitchen.

Choose a Digital Assistant

If you are familiar with your smartphone, then you've probably used the digital assistant feature at least once. On iPhone you have Siri, on Android, you have either Bixby with a Samsung device or Google Assistant on other Android devices.

These digital assistants can help with many tasks such as setting timers, alarms, reminders, etc. However, these digital assistants do not have to only live in your pocket, they can also be easily integrated into your kitchen using a dedicated device.

A dedicated digital assistant speaker can help make your kitchen a great kitchen. Some of the ways a digital assistant can help you in the kitchen include setting cooking timers which can be relayed to you via your smartphone or smartwatch wherever you are in the house, looking up recipes and helping you execute them by providing step-by-step guidance, and help you quickly convert units of measurements without touching your smartphone.

Install Smart Lighting

One of the first big smart home inventions was smart light bulbs. Smart light bulbs are designed to fit into most standard light fixtures and can go a long way in setting the right mood for your kitchen. When going for the perfect aesthetic for your kitchen, proper lighting can be one of the most important aspects.

When most people think of smart light bulbs, they may think of all the different colors that many bulbs are capable of. However, what many people do not know about smart bulbs, is that you can also control the brightness and temperature of the standard white color that most light bulbs come with.

Installation is easy and is not much different than installing a normal light bulb, the only additional setup you need to do is purchase a device called a bridge, which will plug into your internet router/modem to give you access to your smart bulbs from anywhere in the house.

Depending on the type of smart home system you have in the rest of your house, some smart lights do not require a bridge at all. Once you have your smart lights installed, you can use your smartphone or the previously mentioned digital assistant to control the color, color temperature, and brightness of the lights in your kitchen.

Cook, the Smart Way

One of the newer innovations in the smart kitchen world is the arrival of the smart oven. Smart ovens typically sit on your countertop and allow you to cook quickly and conveniently.

Think about it, you're on your way home from work and you open an app on your smartphone to start preheating your oven. You get home and you scan the barcode on the food you want to eat and put it in the oven.

That's all you have to do. The smart oven does the rest. Depending on the model you choose, a smart oven can cook foods that would normally require a convection countertop oven, an air fryer, a slow cooker, a toaster, a broiler, and more. Smart ovens can replace many of those appliances, which is perfect for those with small kitchen spaces.

When designing your kitchen, there are many aspects to consider. Adding smart functionality to your kitchen remodel will go a long way in making your life more convenient. If you're looking for a great kitchen design be sure to contact us today for more information.
